Creativity is intimately linked to self-confidence. If your self-image is at a low ebb, it’s difficult to let yourself go and come up with inventive, loopy ideas which you then have to share and act upon. This question often comes up during my Innovation Coaching sessions.
But here’s the good news – the tide can always turn! One way is to answer a few magic questions. What is there about myself that I think is really great? What have I achieved that I can really congratulate myself on? What difficulties have I overcome recently that I can be proud about? What unusual stimulating ideas have I come up with?
What about building up my self-confidence over the next two weeks by using positive reinforcement on myself several times a day? After all, aren’t I the person I live with 24 hours a day? What if I were to become my best creative friend?
